The Gospel of John, What Does it Say to Me? Pt 2

The Gospel of John, Pt 2
Starting in chapter 9, I don’t really have a set plan so today could be one chapter or another 8, not quite sure yet.
Verse 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of world.
Never being concerned with who heard Him, Jesus over and over again established His authority. If we are in Him, heirs as it says in Hebrews, why are we so concerned with who might be listening?
In chapter 9 here there is a story of Jesus healing a man who was born blind. The man when asked who did this said Jesus was a prophet; the Jews were not satisfied with this man’s answers, so they asked him again and again. Finally he said to them I told you again and again, why won’t you listen…. Then the Jews cast this man from the synagogue, yet Jesus found him. When He did He said to the blind man (verses 9:35-38) Do you believe in the Son of Man? The man asked “and who is he, sir that I may believe in him?” Jesus responded by saying “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you”. The blind man responded, “Lord I believe”.
What I find fascinating here, is that this man, is healed, yet the people don’t rejoice they condemn him, and kick him out of the church. But in the end, Jesus comes to this man, reveals Himself, and this man is saved. Is that not true of us, we hear of something amazing, and we question it, we don’t immediately thank God and praise Him for it?
Verse 10:10: The thief comes to only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly
Again, Jesus is not mincing words, the thief (the devil) comes to tear you down, take from you, and destroy you. Jesus appeared to give you everything. You may wonder why you don’t have everything, have you surrendered everything? Like I have written before, Jesus is Lord of All, or Not at All.
Another bizarre fact through the book of John, the Jews, kept thinking that Christ was possessed of a demon, or insane, there was division among them, and fear kept them from receiving what He had to give. Others convinced that he could not be of a demon for they knew a demon would not open the eyes of the blind… Yet again because of fear they didn’t confess who He really was.
Verse 10:28: I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Does it not amaze you that Christ will not let you go? Yes you and I make choices that do separate us from Him, yet Jesus does not let go. Sin will separate you, but if you know the truth, the Holy Spirit tugs and pulls on you till you confess and re open the lines of communication with God. Only you can choose to let go, Jesus won’t let go of you.
Verses 11:49, 50: But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. Nor do you understand that it is better that for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.”
Caiaphas was the high priest, yet he understood what was happening here. As you go on in chapter 11 you see that he prophesied that Christ would die for the nation of Israel.
Verses 12: 25, 26: Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
If you put yourself first, you lose. If you place yourself as a servant God the Father will honor you. In our selfish me first society, this is truly a feat, I wonder why so many of us who call ourselves Christians do not live as Christ lived, I am too guilty of this, but thank God I have been given the ability to write to share my faith so I can to serve in the Kingdom of God.
Verses 14:6, 7: Jesus said to them, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
That makes it pretty clear.
NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.
Jesus again not mincing words but in love being direct with our salvation and what is expected of us.
That is what I will leave with you for today, I hope that as you read through the Gospel of John you will discover different verses that speak to you, my prayer is simple, I hope to encourage and bless anyone who reads. I also hope that if a non believer is reading through these words that he or she may seek into the word and find the gift of eternal life.

My friends, be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble. You know that you learn to ENDURE by having your FAITH tested. BUT you must learn to endure everything, so that you will be completely mature not lacking in anything,,
Very nice hub....I love the book of John...I will never understand why the Jews did not accept Jesus like you said even after seeing the miracles he performed. Like today so many people witness the power of God but attribute the things they see to coincidence, or whatever. We need to Praise God...to him be all the Glory. Thanks for sharing this beautiful hub I also hope others eyes will be opened.
beautiful beautiful done hub god speed thanks
Yes, Beautiful!!! Amen!!
lil somethin i wrote for many to enjoy!!! Blessings:)
Like a Vast mountain reaching the Powering skies,
The Overcomer none could compromise.
Like a Rushing Mighty waterfall flooding a shale rock,
His mercy Conqueriing all, Leading the way His flock.
Like a quiet still river, peaceful throughout,
Making us love and truly know Him is what this life is all about.
Like a brisk run through the autumn forest, all colors fallen,
The Wind against my back, Striving toward His divine Calling.
Like a Challenging and Fulfilling climb up a rock hill,
Seeking His presence in better knowing and walking out His will.
Like a Graceful doe, complete beauty all around,
Being intimate at His feet, He and I, no other sound.
Like a Rolling thunder Storm, the bolts all lit up,
Seeking His divinity and power as he daily fills my cup,
Like a butterfly leaving its cocoon, and flying away,
Find God's complete freedom in each God given day.
Like a scenic view, atop the cloud,
His peace ringing smoothly, His glory, ever loud.
Like a baby, coming fresh out of the mothers' womb,
Reflecting of His immeasurable love and grace, that sacred day at the tomb!
Like a winter's fresh snow, glistening at sight,
Seeking the good of others in being a better light.
Like a thick towering wave above the oceans near,
Walking in faith as He will never leave us or forsake us, and always has our rear.
Like a Bright morning sunrise, standing in awe, and proud,
The beauty of life and together, being real, and living it loud.
Like the radiant sun setting as the sharp moonlight lets,
Devour His goodness, as He sacrificially cleansed us from all of our debts.
Like a majestic springs night, all stars alit,
Adoring Orion's belt, the big dipper near to where it sits.
Like a sheep from the pasture, brought home, but once lost,
The purpose of why we are here is only Jesus, who bared our sins to give us life on that cross.

I too pray that others will be drawn to Jesus through these pages.
Hmm could be a possibility.... Tell the world.. thank you Darrin for allowing me to post it!!

I have been taught so often that Jesus spoke in parables, that we miss completely His directness...
and that, I believe, is because we are uncomfortable with the message He is giving. Again, as you have said, it comes down to our/my choice doesn't it? I can choose to hear and then choose to put feet to what I hear. Receive what Jesus is saying and "let" it change my heart.
In the Book of John, it always came down to "who are you...where did you come from...and by whose authority do you do these things?" The identity issue. But even as Jesus did NOT have to prove who He is, He said, read the Word, and let my miracles speak for themselves!
So we must not question Jesus but read His Word and look at what He did and let that speak to us. (I think I got off track...forgive me.) Wonderful thoughts...thanks for taking the challenge.
Blessings
